JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Program Manager is a key contributor to the conduct of scientific research, the development of technologies and applications, and for the infusion and deployment of advanced information systems technology into NASA missions and other Federal Government projects. Also, the Program Manager is responsible for the efficient integration of management and administrative functions to ensure that the proper resources are available, allocated and responsibly managed, and for delivering outcomes that result in NASA Ames Research Center’s Intelligent Systems Division (ISD) computational sciences research for NASA in all Agency Mission Directorates. Responsible for managing the implementation of specific government or commercial contracts. Plan, coordinate, and manage the actions taken by an organization to acquire and execute a specific piece of business, either competitively or non- competitively. Integrate all functions and activities necessary to perform the project/program to meet the client or customer requirements. Plan and implement actions by the program/project team to define and implement technical baseline and meet quality requirements for project/program products and services. Direct project team personnel, manage cost and schedule, ensure contract compliance, and serve as customer interface.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Physics, applied mathematics, applied physics, engineering physics or physical chemistry. PhD preferred.

- Twenty (20) years of experience in Computer Science, Physics, applied mathematics, applied physics, engineering physics or physical chemistry required.
- Minimum (5) years Program / Project Management experience and expertise specifically with R&D activities in areas related to autonomous systems and robotics, collaborative and assistant systems, discovery and systems, and robust software engineering.
- Demonstrated ability for leading and facilitating primary and indirect R&D activities and support functions to meet mission, customer and partner objectives in a continuously changing environment
- Demonstrated ability in leading and managing a technical, management and administrative workforce of 100 personnel to ensure that the proper resources are available and allocated to ensure research goals are achieved
- Demonstrated experience in managing and executing R&D activities in formal laboratory environments
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with and maintaining relationships with other US Government agencies, industrial organizations and academic partners for the purpose of joint research and rapid technology transfer
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- NASA, DARPA, AFRL, or NRL experience required. Parallel experience from a different agency will be considered. Experience can be based on service as either a NASA Government employee or contractor.
