Job Description
- SAIC has an opening for a Sr. Engineer to provide System Engineering support services for the Ammunition Branch (JXNN).
- Product areas consist of small arms ammunition, caliber .22 through Caliber .60, 40mm grenade cartridges and various shoulder-launched anti-armor systems, which include the M72 LAW, Carl Gustaf System, AT4, Javelin, Saber and RPG-7 systems.
- Tasking consists of the following: test and evaluation, engineering, modeling and simulation, and preparation of technical data packages for Small Arms Ammunition; prepare and/or review technical data packages, to include specifications, which meet the requirements of MIL-DLT-31000 and/or product drawings, strong knowledge of DOD-STD- 100D, DOD-STD-2101-79 and ANSI Y14.5M.
- Specifications for small arms ammunition shall meet the requirements of MIL-STD-961E, DOD-STD- 2101-79, MIL-STD-490A.
- Prepare and/or review Engineering Change Proposals.
- ECPs shall be developed and/or validated in accordance with MIL- STD-481B and DOD-STD-480A.
- Development of various types of test plans and/or procedures.
- Monitor, collect, review, and analyze test data and perform pre-test methodology analyses.
- Perform statistical/analytical investigations using computer simulated models such as PRODAS.
- Item performance (internal ballistics, external ballistics, accuracy, probability of hit, etc.) must be evaluated as part of the investigation using Government Information in the form of drawings, specifications, and test data.
- Possess strong communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Team player and ability to communication effectively with all level of management.
- Possess or able to obtain a certification IAW NSACRANEINST 8020.1, NOSSAINST 8020.14C, and NAVSEAINST 8020.9B prior to handling explosive items.
- Previous or currently possessing an explosive certification in family types F and J for Operation 1 (Manufacturing) and Operation 2 (Test).
- Travel with involve testing and evaluation of small arms ammunition at varies Government and contractor test sites.
