Manager Distribution Operations

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Manages the nightly 3PL bulk picking and unit sort process this includes the pick, unit sort, put-away of product for the next days pack waves.   Ensures that production schedules, engineered labor standards, accuracy and staffing are maintained to ensure on time performance to the customer. Collaborates with adidas warehouse management, 3PL management and supervisors to correct processes, train employees and develop new procedures as needed to maintain standards as defined by customers and management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage nightly bulk picking and unit sort process to ensure that work waves are completed in an accurate and timely manner.  Specifically overseeing the unit sortation, unit pick and put-away operation.
  • Maintain current documented procedures for each step of the pre-sort functions to include type of equipment, tools and skills required to execute all transactions.
  • Initiates new methods and procedures designed to maintain the integrity of all pre-sort functions.
  • Manage the collection, reporting and feedback regarding pre-sorting using SAP, excel, queries and WMS reporting.
  • Maintain the reporting of engineered labor standards for the pre-sort unit sortation system, pick and put-away standards.  Provide feedback to the 3PL.
  • Maintain all OSHA safety standards including all reporting of accidents, injuries, damages, and potential threats to safety.
  • Assist in the management of adidas-group interest in all aspects of pre-sort processing as contracted with the 3rd party provider.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget and cost per unit for Dept.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Managing an area of approximately 400,000 to 600,000 square feet overseeing a staff of approximately 150, processing in excess of 50 million units annually.
  2. The job requires extensive walking and standing on hard surfaces
  3. Should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large box distribution center environment with pick pack operations, high sku count in a complex high speed operation.   Relevant industry experience is a plus.
  4. Manage a budget in excess of $15M.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). 
  6. Ability to communicate (verbally and written) in a clear and concise manner. 
  7. Possess a high degree of analytical skills.


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  1. College degree and working experience of 5 years or more in a large box distribution center or related industry.
