DESCRIPTION

 

Act as Scrum Master leading a scrum team of 4 Software Engineers working on core data entry applications (NEd, NDL and NDS) used by Gracenote’s Content Editors to collect and manage the company’s library of video information. Use Agile methodologies such as Scrum to structure test-driven development process. Perform daily Scrum call involving scrum team members in order track development status, discuss blockers and co-ordinate within team. Monitor progress and adjust priorities of software development projects depending on deadlines. Participate in design meetings about new applications and provide input for technologies stack to be used for each. Analyze software requirements based on Jira tickets, participate in sprint planning meeting with scrum team and product owner, and assign effort hours to developer resources. Oversee, review work of, and mentor scrum team members, and provide input for team member hiring process, without supervisory authority. Lead the code review meeting for CAE (Content App Enhancement) projects. Participate regularly in all phases of the software development lifecycle. Tools and technologies used: Restful Services, Groovy, Scala, Apache Kafka, HTML, Java, JavaScript (AngularJS and JQuery), CSS 3, JDBC, myBATIS, MVC frameworks (e.g., Spring), SQL, ActiveMQ, JMS, Apache Thrift, Apache Avro, Jira, SpE.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering (any) or related (foreign equivalent degree acceptable), plus 3 years of experience in software design and software development using Java or another JVM-based language. A bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate is accepted in lieu of a master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • This must include the following experience:
    • 3 years of experience each in Java, HTML, CSS 3, JDBC, myBATIS, MVC frameworks, SQL, Agile methodologies, and test-driven software development;
    • 2 years of experience each in Restful Services, JavaScript (AngularJS and JQuery), and mentoring more junior software engineers; and
    • 1 year of experience in Groovy.
  • Any level of experience in/with and/or knowledge of:
    • Scala and Apache Kafka.
