Purpose of Job

The Business Analyst II is responsible for assisting the Manager/Director in the research and analysis of business processes and defining requirements that lead to the implementation of solution and systems for Global Risk Management and Regulatory/Compliance to meet their business needs.  The candidate is also responsible for assisting with the testing of new systems or enhancements, and the provision of ongoing support to all global units for the business areas.


Key Job Accountabilities

  1. Assist the Manager/Director by conducting research and analysis, and accurately and clearly defining user requirements and processes required to resolve business problems and to meet the business needs.  This may involve participation in rapid prototyping, preparing requirements and project documentations.
  2. Participate in the systems implementation process by assisting in the development of test cases and the conducting of testing, assisting in the definition of user procedures and workflows, assisting in the development of conversion and implementation strategies, and assisting in the provision of user documentation, user training, and post-implementation support.
  3. Providing end user support to business users, assisting with the resolution of system issues and the design and implementation of systems enhancements.


Skills, Experiences and Functional Competencies

  1. Creative, reliable self-starter, results oriented, highly motivated individual with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to apply knowledge to independently resolve complex business problems.
  2. Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and exercise diplomacy and judgement to effectively work with business users and project team members, technology teams and management. 
  3. Understanding of current IT practices, Agile systems development techniques, including requirements specification; testing methodologies; real time analytical and formal modeling tools, keeps current with rapidly changing technology. 
  4. Adaptable, able to operate in dynamic environment.
  5. Experience / Knowledge of Capital Markets and financial instruments including market conventions.
  6. Experience / Knowledge of capital Markets Risk Regulatory and compliance and reporting and Analytics is preferable


Must have skills 

  1. Some Experience with data analysis, and Analytics Tools an asset.
  2. Hands on experience with SQL Scripting and writing SQL queries
  3. Hands on experience writing UNIX scripts.
  4. Experience working with relational databases.
  5. Experience with Python


Education and Other Requirements

A recognized degree in business, computer science, mathematics or related discipline is required, along with 2-3 years practical experience.
