Job Summary

Support Construction Safety, Fire and Life Safety and Hazardous Materials programs for the Environmental Health and Safety Department.  Conducts regular audits, inspections and training.  Collates data and writes reports.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures policies designed to prevent and respond to fire and smoke in the Hospital environment are complied with.
  • Develops and administers education programs and fire drills enterprise-wide (including off-campus locations and off-shift)
  • Maintains portable fire extinguisher inventory per established policies and codes.
  • Create and regularly review department specific plans detailing response to fire and smoke.
  • Serves as an internal resource for compliance with current life safety codes.

Participates in departmental activities, including on-call, environment of care rounds, hazardous materials and biological events responses.

HAZWOPER - Haz Waste Ops and ER 24or40 hour

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management or related area.

0-2 years experience in industrial hygiene/safety field.

Knowledge of Fire codes 

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Additional Technical Requirements

Working knowledge of construction safety, healthcare environments, NFPA Life Safety Code, EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations.
