Environmental Test Technician

Organizes, schedules and completes product testing in Environmental Test Lab.  Prepares and operates all test equipment, and trains others to set up and operate test equipment.  Utilizes network analyzers and computer programs.  Develops test procedures and compiles test results and writes formal test reports for submission to customers.  Interprets test requirements in customer and military specifications.  Coordinates and prioritizes needed resources.  Manages projects and implements actions to accomplish established goals and objectives, including working non-standard hours, when required.  Identifies problems, analyzes trends, and applies appropriate actions to resolve problems and improve performance.  Interacts with company personnel from all levels and functions.  Communicates directly with customers, and with suppliers of test equipment.  Supports other areas in Quality department, and other areas in company, as required.


High School or equivalent education required; AA degree preferred. Preferred 4 years of related experience, or specialized training.  Must possess good organizational skills.  Knowledgeable of military standards, environmental test lab standard operating procedures, and test equipment software.  Working knowledge of AS9100, company processes and procedures, and continuous improvement methodology.  Ability to perform daily work assignments with limited supervision, both independently and as a team member.  Working knowledge of an ERP package and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, lifting of moderately heavy items, and reaching; and, use of hand tools to manipulate and secure test fixtures. 
  • Work involves conditions and elements related to various test parameters, such as handling hot/cold products, working with electrical equipment; drying and cleaning chambers and areas around chambers.
