Online classes and degrees may well be the future of higher education since they offer such a high level of convenience and are gradually being accepted by employers as sufficient qualifications for a job. Online schools are becoming extremely popular with busy professionals and parents who don’t have the time to dedicate to a campus based college course. Previously, prospective students had to find a college and a job nearby to pay for it all. Now, it is possible to study at your own pace from home while fitting it all in with a full-time job. Below are 5 of the best online colleges which are accredited and offer qualifications accepted nationwide.

Boston University Online
You are guaranteed a high quality learning experience with Boston University Online as it has a high student to teacher ratio (13:1) and the institution is selective when it comes to admissions (54% of applicants are accepted). One downside to this college is the high fees. For example, the College of Fine Arts costs $663 per credit hour with an additional $60 an hour tech fee and a $40 registration fee. However, over 60% of attendees receive financial aid.

Northeastern University Online
This college is even more exclusive than Boston with a 41% acceptance rate. Approximately 75% of students graduate and there is a 15:1 student/teacher ratio. The College of Professional Studies charges $335 per credit hour. If you want a Master’s Degree in the College of Business Administration, it will cost you a total of $67,250. Again, this is high quality education but at a high price. On the plus side, 86% of students receive financial aid.

Colorado State University Global Campus
This college offers online degrees for those interested in pursuing a career in education, management, technology and business. It has a higher acceptance rate (72%) than the two colleges mentioned above and is known for providing a high quality online experience. Online Bachelor’s Degrees cost $1,050 a course with the cost greatly reduced for students with a high number of transfer credits. Online Master’s Degrees cost $1,500 per course.

Liberty University Online
This is the only online college featured in this article with a 100% acceptance rate. It is a Christian university but offers one of the best selection of bachelor’s and master’s degrees of any college. There are over 50,000 students attending this college which means it has a high student to teacher ratio (45:1). Undergraduate courses cost $325 per hour with graduate courses costing $365 per hour. A full list of costs is available here. An incredible 97% of students attending this college receive some form of financial aid.

Western Governor’s University Online
No less an authority than TIME magazine hailed this college as one of the best and cheapest around. This college was founded in 1995 by governors of 19 western states and has been the recipient of a number of awards. However, be prepared for a tough ride as only 45% of applicants are accepted and only 22% graduate. The relatively low cost is a major plus point with courses available for as little as $2,890 per term.

These are just five of hundreds of colleges offering degree courses online. Do your research to find the most suitable location for your higher education.
