Principal R&D Engineer


About the role:

  • Principal R&D Engineer will design and develop advanced sensors components and test systems for medical products. 
  • Will serve as an internal subject matter expert for sensors and a liaison to external sensor manufacturers and suppliers.
  • This engineer will become an integral part of an interdisciplinary team of SW/HW/mechanical professionals developing complex electronic systems.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop new sensor products by designing and analyzing system requirements, prototyping concepts, testing, and iterating.
  • Maintain requirements and design documentation by writing documents, reports, presentations, memos.
  • Define, coordinate, perform and analyze sensor testing including writing test reports.
  • Work closely with the systems, electrical and mechanical engineers to evaluate the mutual dependences, build the sensors development work plan and follow through on its execution.
  • Solve problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Aid in the Risk Analysis for the project.
  • Execute manufacturing, verification and validation activities supporting release of commercial product.


What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Required minimum years of work experience (primarily in medical device or related field): 9 years with BS, or 7 years with MS, or 4 years with PhD
  • 3+ years of experience in sensor design and development. 
  • Creative and self-motivated with a passion for solving problems.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience building high-accuracy sensor characterization and testing systems.
  • Experience with modeling complex sensors behavior to compensate for errors due to non-linearity and thermal drift.
  • Medical Device industry background and knowledge.
  • Experience working with magnetics.
