Manage receivables through risk assessments for credit policy exceptions, monitoring status and coordinating activities supporting company's customer credit and collections policies for residential and small commercial accounts. Researches and analyzes accounts to resolve customer disputes and fraud related issues. Develop advanced knowledge of the CCS system, TDSP operations, Texas SET transactions, PUC substantive rules and federal consumer credit and collections laws.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform credit investigation, evaluating the credit strength of applicants and making credit decisions within established guidelines for designated transactions.
  • Carry out the established programs and processes for the follow-up and collection of accounts receivable.
  • Analyze disputed accounts regarding former outstanding account balances.
  • Negotiate payment plans/terms.
  • Conduct skip-tracing activities to validate applicant/customer identification to resolve disputes or fraud issues.
  • Communicate with customers regarding applicable credit activity via telephone, email, fax and/or US Mail process.
  • Collaborate with other internal operational groups to ensure coordination and cooperation toward timely customer issue resolution related to credit matters.
  • Review work queue and perform required credit activities within established service level agreements.
  • Escalate requests with management, as appropriate, for special applications for credit that are outside of standard policies and procedures.
  • Participate on the team’s Business Continuity Program as an immediate primary participant.
  • Assist in special projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area from an accredited four-year university is strongly preferred.


  • One year credit and collections and/or banking experience required
  • Knowledge of the utility and/or the deregulated energy or telecommunications industry preferred.
  • Experience in SAP/CCS execution preferred.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have strong knowledge of customer systems, and internal business processes and policies related to consumer credit.
  • Understanding of operating guidelines and rules specific to consumer credit (i.e. FCRA and FDCPA)
  • Strong mathematical/analytical skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to use good judgment to make decisions.
  • Effectively communicates to a wide range of internal audiences in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers using a telephone instrument or in person while maintaining composure and control.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, initiative and self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills needed.
  • Comfortably handles risk and uncertainty as appropriate for level of responsibility.
  • Ability to handle and meet aggressive, metric oriented deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must be able to stay on task and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated high degree of customer and internal client orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Adapts effectively to new and changing situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and view computer terminal(s).

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Office Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Overtime required when necessary.
  • Work may involve dealing with people in an unpleasant or strained situation.
  • Occasional Travel
