Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has a job opportunity for a Plant Controller to be located in Newark, OH. The Plant Controller will be responsible for all finance and accounting aspects of the plant, partnering with the plant management team in managing the manufacturing operations and meeting financial objectives. Additionally, the Plant Controller will be responsible for monthly performance analysis, budget and forecast development, and support and analysis of cost reduction initiatives.


Key Responsibilities of the Plant Controller:

  • Administering the Executive and Salary payroll for the Tectum facility in ABP Workforce
  • Administering the 401K Fidelity Plan
  • Filing and paying all Sales and Use Taxes as needed
  • Completing all functions for the month end and year end closing for Tectum and Lamit Industries in Epicor and Quickbooks
  • Completing all Journal Entries and reconciling the plant checking accounts
  • Balancing side reports to the General Ledger
  • Compiling Financial Statements
  • Recording and maintaining Fixed Asset information in the Sage Software
  • Researching, investigating and maintaining accurate information for Financial Statements & Balance Sheet Accounts
  • Supporting the plant in generating and quantifying cost savings opportunities
  • Providing financial analysis to management as requested
  • Preparing and developing the annual plant budget, including developing standards and updating the standards and period expense budgets
  • Updating and maintaining ABP Workforce now in reference to medical insurance plans and 1095-C’s
  • Working with capital projects manager to ensure accounting software reflects the same spend as the capital cost book
  • Reviewing and evaluating internal control procedures in order to sustain SOX compliance and to manage and minimize financial risk at the facility

Required Qualifications for the Plant Controller:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of manufacturing accounting experience
  • Ability to link and analyze plant operational metrics to financial performance
  • Proven operational leadership skills in implementing and supporting new ideas


Desired Qualifications for the Plant Controller:

  • 3+ years of experience as a plant controller in a product manufacturing environment
  • Experience with SAP, Epicor or similar ERP system
  • Prior supervisory and/or management experience
