Breakfast Attendant

STARTING RATE:  $9.61 

Basic Function

Under general supervision, provides exceptional service to all guests and potential guests by assisting them in a friendly, efficient, courteous and professional manner. Prepares and serves Hot Breakfast for guests following Company policies and procedures. Maintains the breakfast / lobby area in a clean and organized manner.

Job Duties

  1. Has a +1 Service Attitude and provides courteous, friendly guest service by discovering and responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries, requests, and complaints.
  2. Sets up and maintains Hot Breakfast by preparing hot food items according to the Drury training guidelines and follows the Daily Shift Checklist for Hot Breakfast (i.e., taking temperatures of food / maintaining the temperature log, storing food in the proofer, etc.)
  3. During breakfast serving hours, maintains serving areas by restocking as needed; cleans counters, tables, floors / carpets as needed, prepares additional hot food items to keep up with demand. Pours coffee and greets / interacts with guests by engaging in conversation.
  4. After serving hours, breaks down the serving line according to Drury procedures (i.e., refrigerates and labels items as necessary; washes all coffee pots; washes all equipment / dishes used during breakfast according to sanitation guidelines; cleans all counters / tables; may vacuum carpet, sweep and mop floors, remove and discard trash, etc.)
  5. Preps hot food items for next day according to forecasted demand (i.e., places biscuits, sausage and French toast on baking trays, moves food from freezer to refrigerator for thawing, labels necessary items, etc.)
  6. Completes the Hot Breakfast Weekly Usage Chart at the end of breakfast serving hours each day and turns in to direct supervisor.
  7. Conducts inventory of all food and service items in order to maintain proper serving levels; may place order with vendors for routine items with supervisor’s approval.
  8. Appreciates the diversity of our team members and guests and contributes to maintaining a positive work environment at all times.
  9. Completes special weekly cleaning duties: i.e., refrigerators, storage areas, cabinets, proofer, convection oven, juice / soda machines, etc.
  10. Monitors guests' satisfaction of the breakfast, and informs General Manager of special comments made by guests.
  11. Complies with hotel's safety / security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow workers and the hotel.
  12. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Requires ability to take written and verbal direction in English and speak English clearly. Requires ability to communicate in a friendly manner with guests in order to create a warm, comfortable, relaxing environment.  Requires knowledge of hotel accommodations, the community and breakfast hours.

Requires ability to conduct accurate inventory of food items and calculate order levels.

Mental and Physical Requirements

EDUCATION:

Requires knowledge, skill and mental ability equivalent to completion of 2 years of high school.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in working with the public or food service experience preferred, but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Requires ability to walk and stand during entire working period of 4 - 6 hours. Requires ability to lift 20 - 30 pounds intermittently during the work shift. Requires ability to push a vacuum, reach, stretch, and bend in routine daily work activities.

 

Working Relationships

Reports to General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Executive Housekeeper.

Maintains and promotes a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments.
