Position Summary: Responsible for the operation of the non-ambulance medical transportation vehicle as defined by AMR’s driving program and policies.  Responsible for the daily inspection and minor maintenance of the vehicle.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities –


  • Inspects vehicle at beginning and end of shift according to established procedures.


  • Completes appropriate parts of manifest.


  • Reports needed repairs, etc., to supervisor and other support personnel.


  • Responsible for safe transport of patients and riders.


  • Responsible for maintaining accurate log of daily transports.


  • Responsible for full knowledge of the vehicles’ equipment and its proper use at all times.


  • Upon arrival at destination, responsible for placing the Medi-Van back in service.


  • Radio communication from the field to headquarters/hospital.


  • Responsible for precepting new employees.


  • Respects and holds in confidence all information of a confidential nature obtained in the course of professional work unless required by law to divulge such information.


  • Abides by all FCC rules and regulations.


    Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities-

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Physical Requirements- (Field Employees Only)

  • Required to meet lifting and other physical requirements of the Core Job Functions and Qualifications Standards for Medi-Van Drivers as outlined in the Safety Risk Manual.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Must possess a current Class D driver’s license in the State where employed except where exempt by State regulation.


  • Currently licensed as EMS-Driver with DEMS.


  • Current AHA Healthcare provider or Red Cross equivalent training in CPR certification.


  • Must be at least 18 years old.


  • Must have an acceptable driver history as determined by the company and outlined in the Standard Operations Procedure manual.




  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.


    Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ability to drive according to EVOC standards.
