This position will provide technical support to senior Pentagon space leaders on the Principal DoD Space Advisor (PDSA) staff. Job responsibilities will require knowledge space superiority capabilities, and understanding of how those capabilities provide for the mission effectiveness of the U.S. Military. To provide support, the selected candidate will work closely with senior staff members on architecture analysis, concepts of operations, and other areas related to space superiority. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of command and control (C2) are required. Projects may not be fully defined and will require the candidate to demonstrate the ability to work independently and effectively assess mission needs and potential solution options for the customer. The candidate will also need to demonstrate knowledge of Pentagon organization impacting space across the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) staff.



This position supports Aerospace's National Security Space Policy, Programs & Oversight (NSSPPO) Subdivision of the National Space Systems Engineering (NSSE) Division within Defense Systems Group (DSG). The selected candidate will be able to:

-              Provide broad space superiority and analytic support to tasks developed with or provided by the customer.

-              Provide time-sensitive responses to staff questions on technical and programmatic space system and military operations issues

-              Provide a conduit for customer access to Aerospace corporate and technical expertise

-              Support customer architecture analysis efforts


The selected candidate must work effectively in an onsite environment with the customer and have the ability to work with senior Government leaders, contractors, other government agencies, the various Aerospace program offices, and the Aerospace Engineering and Technical Group (ETG) to address issues and provide the customer with the best available technical and programmatic analyses.






-              Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, or other discipline relevant to this position

-              Minimum of 12 years' experience in space systems engineering and/or operations. In particular, the qualified candidate should have a strong background in space systems technologies and capabilities, and an understanding of space systems capabilities impact to military operations.

-              Experience in briefing senior Government leaders (General officer and/or SES)

-              Possess a thorough understanding of the roles played by the Office of the Secretary of Defense; the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and the Principle DoD Space Advisor; Air Force Space Command; the space system program offices; the defense agencies; the Joint Staff; and other government organizations in the national security space enterprise

-              Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and must be adept at oral and written communication

-              Possess a proven ability to work effectively with senior government, military personnel, co-located FFRDC, and SETA contractors

-              Current TS/SCI clearance is required



-             Experience with space superiority / space control capabilities

-             Architecture analysis and review experience

-             Experience working in the Pentagon with the Air Staff and/or OSD.
