Machine Repair Supervisor - Job Change

The Machine Repair Supervisor Responsible for directing the activities of approximately 38 skilled and semi-skilled workers in the preparation of changeover related equipment and the execution of forming machine job changes and repairs.



  • Supervises performance of all forming machine job changes.  Responsible for efficiency and quality of work performed by job change crews.  Follows work schedules closely to ensure work is completed on time
  • Responsible for project assignments, including the dismantling and assembling of machinery on scheduled maintenance intervals and breakdowns
  • Maintains adequate supply of job change parts to include all process change equipment.  Anticipates changeover equipment and repair parts requirements.  Assigns personnel necessary to clean, repair and assemble job change repair parts
  • Maintain all machinery and equipment needed for shop conversions
  • Accurately maintains all changeover, process change and procedural records
  • Responsible for troubleshooting the forming operation
  • Coordinates and directs the training of new employees and apprentices.  Follow the progress of each to ensure adequate working knowledge through instruction and exposure to production equipment and processes
  • Attend and participate in various plant and departmental meetings
  • Responsible for meeting departmental OSHA, EPA and EEO guidelines in addition to being an EAT responder
  • Responsible for handling of first step grievances, considers employee personal problems, and appropriately administers department and plant policies



Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint). 
  • Knowledge of business system software such as JDE, Prime, and Kronos
  • Prior bargaining unit supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must effectively communicate with Members of the Bargaining unit, members of Supervision
  • Communication is in the form of reports, schedules, email, face to face verbal, and phone conversations.
  • Consistently exhibit Libbey Values in all interactions with Libbey associates.
  • Exhibit sound judgment and professionalism in all aspects of the position. Safety in the production environment.
  • Exhibit sound judgment regarding customer's and Libbey's quality requirements


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers to operate office tools.
  • Frequent speaking/listening in face-to-face and/or phone conversations. Frequent standing/walking in glass production environment.
  • Frequent reaching above shoulders, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional required domestic and international travel.
  • Work in glass production area with associated safety equipment.



  • Bachelor’s Degree desired. Associate Degree required.
  • LEAN champion Certification preferred (or equivalent)
  • Excellent leadership, organization and communication skills

  • Potential for shift work
