Spacecraft Electronics Lead

Responsibilities

This position is for a technical and acquisition role within an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, and SE&I contractors.  This role will require working closely with multiple contractors, program offices, external agencies, and others. The selected applicant will serve as a key member of a team supporting the planning, acquisition, and development of advanced communication systems. The selected applicant will lead and perform efforts with respect to the evaluation, acquisition, and development of advanced communication systems and will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the project life cycle, include pre-acquisition, source selection, design reviews, integration and test, and early operational testing. The selected applicant will be the primary digital electronics engineering lead on the program, including space and ground segments, and will be expected to conduct a wide range of mission assurance planning and implementation.  

 

This position can be filled at a Level 2: Project Engineer or a Level 3: Sr. Project Engineer. 

 

Key Functions 

  • Evaluation of potential architectures and associated trades; development, management, and verification of requirements; evaluation and implementation of interfaces; development of acquisition documentation; review and evaluation of contractor deliverables and proposals; and leadership in test definition, planning, and execution. 
  • Establish and maintain the confidence and trust of the government customer.
  • Lead relevant Aerospace ETG (Engineering and Technology Group) contributions.
  • Work integrally and effectively with the government program office team and staff from external organizations.
  • A moderate amount of domestic travel is expected.

Qualifications

Requirements for Level 2: Project Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, math or related technical field  
  • 7 or more years of experience that includes one more of the following: design, development, integration, and test of digital and/or analog electronics
  • Systems engineering experience
  • Experience with verification planning and implementation and requirements development/review
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customer, contractor and Aerospace personnel
  • Current TS/SSBI, active SCI clearance and the ability to pass a polygraph
  • Ability to obtain program clearances
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Seasoned technical analysis and judgment skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills 

 

Requirements for Level 3: Sr. Project Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, math or related technical field  
  • 12 or more years of experience that includes one more of the following: design, development, integration, and test of digital and/or analog electronics
  • Systems engineering experience
  • Experience with verification planning and implementation and requirements development/review
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customer, contractor and Aerospace personnel
  • Current TS/SSBI, active SCI clearance and the ability to pass a polygraph
  • Ability to obtain program clearances
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Seasoned technical analysis and judgment skills

Preferred 

  • Advanced degree in engineering or related technical field
  • Experience with the modeling and simulation of digital and/or analog systems
  • Experience with interface definition and development
  • Experience with design review preparation and evaluation
  • Experience with FPGA and ASIC development for communications systems
  • Experience with advanced communications technologies
  • Experience with mission assurance processes, practices, and techniques
