Description Summary

Our affiliate company is part of Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN (BCBSMN) but operates as a separate business that consults and provides services to other health plans. Our affiliate companies services support the administration of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.



The Marketing Intern is part of the Sales and Marketing team.  Projects that come to the Sales and Marketing team are:




  • Creation of Medicare marketing materials for several clients.

  • Facilitation of reviews and approvals of Medicare marketing materials.

  • Maintainance of clients’ Medicare marketing websites.

  • Creation and implementation of agent/broker Medicare certification site.

  • Management of printing and fulfillment of Medicare marketing materials for several clients.

  • Management and oversight of pre-enrollment call center.

  • Facilitation of regularly scheduled conference calls with clients.

  • Require documentation or creation of a work product such as a timeline (Visio), project schedule or workplan (Excel) or some type of analysis (Excel) and/or presentation (PPT) or other documents (Word).



 A typical day could include:




  • Setting up a meeting, creating an agenda, preparing documents for use at the meeting. Capturing meeting minutes. Keeping track of follow-up or action items from a meeting.

  • Marking edits on PDFs of marketing materials to send to production vendor. Also proofing those edits upon their return.

  • Proofreading marketing materials.

  • Saving materials and updating schedules in the materials database (FileMaker Pro).

  • Proofing and testing training modules on certification site.

  • Working with outside vendor to manage translation of marketing materials.

  • Drafting and possibly distributing agent/broker communications.



Intern’s summer project (in addition to routine daily work):




  • Read and understand Medicare Marketing Guidelines

  • Read and understand clients’ style guides

  • Mark up edits on PDFs of materials using Adobe Professional

  • Use FileMaker Pro database

  • Maintain Medicare benefit grid summaries and detail

  • Update Master Group contracts

  • Research various topics as assigned by the Sales and Marketing team


Accountabilities


  1. Provides tactical support for product launches, service opportunities and other market opportunities to ensure growth of segment.

  2. Conduct site testing for web and training sites.

  3. Writes, edits and/or designs internal communications (agent), promotional brochures and materials, mandated letters, member publications, articles, events, Internet and other communications tactics. 

  4. Tracks materials through review and development process.

  5. Assists with tracking of sales oversight activities.

  6. Conduct research for sales and marketing communications.

  7. Assists with documenting discussions, processes, project plans, and client status grids.


Requirements


  • Holds a GPA of 3.0 or above on a scale of 4.0

  • Completed Sophomore level or above

  • Strong application knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to multi-task and support a variety projects


Preferred Requirements


  • Previous experience helpful but not necessary.
