Associate Analyst/Analyst, IT Quality Assurance

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Analyst (QA Tester) is a position with American Airline’s Customer Hub Team.  The Customer Hub team manages enterprise customer data The QA Tester will work with a team of developers, business technology analysts and testers responsible for leveraging technology to conduct manual and automated testing to increase the quality in the product delivery. Types of projects to be delivered include new web services, addition of new data sources or ETL jobs, infrastructure, data quality improvement and other similar efforts


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the application and domain to perform hands-on testing of the services from a technical standpoint including non-functional aspects such as load, response time, end-to-end connectivity, availability, security etc.
  • Define and document test strategy, test plans, and test cases by evaluating functional and non-functional requirements 
  • Identify, create, execute and manage test cases
  • Manage the status of defects/enhancements in the change management system and provide updates to the team on a  regular basis 
  • Coordinate with other team members and vendor to accomplish testing goals
  • Help troubleshoot issues that arise during project lifecycle and operations 
  • Participate in meetings with the IT teams, business teams, and vendors to discuss testing updates 
  • Create metrics/reports to capture test progress for projects and releases 
  • Communicate ideas and information tailored to the style and needs of the audience (technical and non-technical) 
  • Handle testing efforts for multiple projects/releases concurrently 
  • Proactively identify ways to improve testing processes and techniques 
  • Build strong and sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify quality risks and issues that impacts project deliveries

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/IT or equivalent current experience required
  • A proven track record of successfully testing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including 4+ years of experience as a tester on complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
  • Hands on current experience creating test cases and executing test scenarios
  • Experience in working with test automation tools
  • Familiarity with DEVOPs
  • Strong written communication skills, expressing (verbal and written) information and key points clearly and concisely
  • Current experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
  • Must understand how applications are built, tested, deployed in server environments hosted in data centers
  • Must have experience working with Unix Systems
  • Experience testing services as a service provider as well as consumer
  • Experience testing large enterprise level database
  • Knowledge and current experience with software such as SoapUI, XML and writing SQL validation queries
  • Basic SQL knowledge
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Airline domain experience preferred
