Production Manager

Tennant Company is currently seeking a Production Manager to manage the Fabrication Supervisor group in our Minneapolis Manufacturing facility.  This role has responsibility across a 24 hour per day, 3 shift operation.  You will be responsible for the performance of that team as it pertains to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Employee Engagement.  As a Production Manager, you will work with Supervisors to develop staffing plans, develop training systems, and train employees.  This role has authority for hiring, termination, discipline and performance decisions.  You will also help drive a safety first culture and ensures product quality standards are maintained.  This role is accountable for business results for the Fabrication team and you will drive accountability and adherence to standard work. 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborates with the Value Stream Manager and the leadership team to drive the implementation of continuous improvement and lean transformation.
  • Drives a high performance culture through departmental development.
  • Understands and communicates business information to the team. Communicates, interprets and administers company and department policies and procedures.
  • Uses problem solving methodologies , such as A3 & 8D, to solve quality and process related issues
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with shop floor production staff to solicit feedback that will positively influence design of new products and current production processes
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts within the department
  • Provides leadership to employees to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost goals.
  • Initiates employee actions such as; reviews, promotions, transfers, terminations and discipline.
  • Manages Supervisor group on multiple shifts.
  • Works with employees to resolve work related problems, participate in resolution of conflicts, complains and grievances.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • 2-5 Years in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment or related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully introduce, handle and manage change.
  • Experienced in decision making and exercising sound judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment (responsibility for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift). 
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to take direction and accept supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.

 

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must regularly lift and/or moved up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and hearing protection
