Executive Producer - Digital

Position Summary

The Digital Executive Producer for Local Now helps set and drives the execution of the Local Now editorial voice and strategy. The EP will oversee day-to-day story research, content development, management and publishing across various channels including websites, apps, and social media. This is accomplished through the hiring, training and supervision of a team of digital producers who create content for Local Now.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ambitious producers within a fast-paced newsroom and translate the day's national and local stories into highly-engaging, best-in-class video content
  • Guide creation of video, photo, graphic and live stream content amongst the digital team, and interface with other departments to further coordinate asset creation
  • Apply SEO practices to improve overall content discovery and visibility
  • Operate a suite of software that includes the Adobe Premier Pro, Dalet newsroom management system, web content management system, and computer-based video encoding and image capture applications
  • Oversee the team during severe weather (in collaboration with Weather Channel partners) and breaking news coverage
  • Manage the control room during the live broadcasts
  • Work closely with on-air talent; including on-air presentation, scripting and field production
  • Act as liaison with other TWC managers and departments; including the TWC Assignment Desk and Digital Teams

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

  • 5 years recent and significant live television/ control room and production/development experience required
  • Direct experience in digital, cable, or broadcast network television is preferred
  • College degree in Journalism or Communications required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with production, post-production and on-air talent
  • Ability to operate strategically and tactically as the situation demands
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with various other departments, including Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, Marketing, PR, Education and Legal
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to manage the repurposing and/or reversioning of various content
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Desire to achieve, flexibility and willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a 24x7 environment
  • Excellent collaborative skills and ability to work well on a teams
  • Excellent video editing skills (e.g. Adobe Premier Pro)
  • Experience using newsroom management systems and content management systems
  • Interpersonal skills to work with all levels of customers.
  • Knowledgeable in developing and producing rich content/diverse programming for multiple platforms aimed at broadening the networks (on-air, broadband, et al) demographic appeal
  • Story-driven writing/producing experience
  • Strong knowledge of current events; including news and business headlines
