Waster Water Treatment Plant Technician Job

Operate and maintain an industrial wastewater treatment facility in compliance with a NYS Discharge Permit.  Assists in maintaining compliance with all environmental requirements and records.

  • Inspects all equipment /instrumentation and verify proper operation. 
  • Evaluates operational data and record necessary data.
  • Determines by calculation and adjust process controls.
  • Evaluates process problems; determine appropriate corrective measures and implement.
  • Monitors quality and quantity of storm water run-off per wastewater permit.
  • Samples and analyzes hazardous wastes, sludges and miscellaneous materials as required.
  • Maintains stock of chemicals and calibration of laboratory instruments for analysis.
  • Responds to off hour calls regarding operational problems as required
  • Maintain cleanliness and operability of all facilities and equipment.
  • Assists with application of digested sludge to agricultural fields
  • Assists with environmental data collection, documentation and reports required by permits
  • Supports Loss Control policy, AIMS, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems


Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science preferred
  • 3-5 years manufacturing, laboratory or related experience
  • Waste water treatment plant experience preferred
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Good organizational and communication skills
