Sr. Applications Developer

Senior Applications Programmer - ETL Developer develops and maintains the interfaces and data extracts from business source systems into the enterprise primary reporting systems. Designs and writes programs and scripts required to extract, transform, clean and move data from the business systems into the enterprise data warehouse, data mart and operational data stores. Other related responsibilities include ongoing support, maintenance, and other ETL related information technology endeavors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in requirement meetings with BI Analysts to understand analytical content needs. Assist in documenting these requirements, resolving ambiguities and conflicts, and ensuring requirements are complete.
  • Provides strategic thought leadership pertaining to new ways of leveraging information to improve business processes.
  • Develops detailed ETL specifications based on business requirements.
  • Analyzes functional specifications and assist in designing potential technical solutions.
  • Works with source system developers and business owners to define data extraction methodologies.
  • Works with Data Modelers to develop data warehouse models, design specifications, metadata process and documentation.
  • Defines, documents, develops, enhances and maintains Software application modules in Informatica.
  • Performs ETL/Informatica tuning as well as SQL tuning.
  • Develops ETL test plans and tests the ETL code following ETL standards and architecture.
  • Develop and execute SQL script and perform stored procedure development.
  • Performs design validation, reconciliation and error handling in the load process (initial, incremental).
  • Understands and executes release management and change management processes for changes to business applications.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves application issues and code defects; escalates as appropriate.
  • Follow established procedures and best practices such as coding standards, test planning, test case execution, code reviews and deployment planning.
  • Demonstrates success in working in a team-based environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge & experience in ETL Development, Informatica Programming.
  • Experience with database engines including SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of version control practices & procedures.
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing methodology and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of SDLC and production environments.
  • Knowledge of Informatica SAP extraction methods a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP HANA and SAP Data Services a plus.
  • Knowledge of SOA Integration/Web Services a plus.
