HR Project Manager

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Coordinate and collaborate with HR team members across multiple locations to plan and execute initiatives and projects of all sizes; develop and manage all project aspects from inception to completion, including detailed project plans, resourcing, risks/issues/decisions, etc.
  • Partner with the Director of Program Management to escalate issues and ensure strategy and alignment for project execution; support the Director on function-related projects and initiatives to further grow and enhance the HR PMO
  • Prepare project day to day deliverables such as meeting agendas, meeting outcomes, and next steps; hold resources accountable and follow up as needed to ensure tasks are being met; prepare project status updates; draft senior management communications to ensure proper visibility
  • Facilitate project meetings and ensure resource alignment across different functions with clear roles, responsibilities, and action items
  • Identify risks/issues that impact the execution and success of the project (e.g., resource availability, functional discrepancies, testing errors, etc.) and escalate as appropriate for resolution/mitigation
  • Identify project management best practices through research and training; communicate recommendations and lessons learned to be considered for implementation
  • Collaborate with other departments and project stakeholders, including Senior Management, HR functional areas, IT, Finance, Payroll, and third-party vendors
  • Advise and participate in change management plans and execution
  • Perform various administrative tasks as needed, including: logistics for meetings and workshops, room bookings, catering, and visitor registrations

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 or more years of experience in a consulting/project management role, with a focus on HR-related projects
  • Experience managing projects in a global environment, leading HR business process reengineering and system implementations
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to design solutions that drive results

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Program/project management expertise; PMP certification
  • Experience leading projects in-house and for an HR department
  • Knowledge of the HR suite and corresponding tools and technology, including Core HR systems, Compensation and Benefits, Talent Acquisition, etc.  
  • Ability to work well in a team environment; strong relationship management skills with customer focus
