Counter Communications Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

Works independently with both internal and external customers and with technical support, as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader.  May lead or organize technical efforts or project teams.  Interfaces between customers and Aerospace technical and management staff. Air Force Counter Communications System (CCS) is a currently deployed system, undergoing a significant block upgrade with another major upgrade in the planning stages.  This position brings expertise to the CCS team for both sustainment and development activities on CCS with a focus on the key functions below.

 

This position can be filled as a Level 2: Counter Communications Systems Engineer or as a Level 3: Sr. Counter Communications Systems Engineer.

 

Key Functions

  • Provide engineering support to customers through pre-acquisition planning, source selection, design reviews, integration and test, and early operational testing.
  • Support acquisition of software reliant RF systems to include development of acquisition strategies, development of request for proposal packages, and participation in source selections.
  • Play a significant role in engineering studies such as requirements development and flow; integration, verification, and validation; readiness reviews; risk and opportunity identification, assessment, and mitigation; technology planning and insertion; performance assessments; architecture assessments; and/or market research.
  • Develop and interpret metrics for tracking success of projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information
  • Mission assurance
  • This position requires travel

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Level 2: Counter Communications Systems Engineer

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science or closely related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering, software engineering OR RF engineering across the lifecycle from inception through design, construction, testing and deployment
  • Experience with at least one DoD ground or space program
  • Clear written and oral communications skills
  • Current Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Ability to travel as needed

 

Required Qualifications for Level 3: Sr. Counter Communications Systems Engineer

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science or closely related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 12 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering, software engineering OR RF engineering across the lifecycle from inception through design, construction, testing and deployment
  • Experience with at least one DoD ground or space program
  • Clear written and oral communications skills
  • Current Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Ability to travel as needed

 

Preferred

  • BS in electrical engineering
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software development techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the DoD acquisition system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of radio frequency systems
