    All positions may not be filled or they may be filled at different times depending on budget, hiring needs, and requirements. These positions are temporary and are expected to last for approximately 6 months. These positions have no promotion potential, if you want to be considered for a higher grade you must apply for the higher grade.

    Hourly Wage: The wage rate shown is taken from table 083R Montana found at https://www.cpms.osd.mil/Subpage/AFWageSchedules/

    Physical Demands/Work Environment: work requires standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. During periods of high fire activity, incumbent may be required to work for periods of time up to 21 days without days off. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, equipment, and printed materials that may weigh 60-70 pounds. Work is generally performed on concrete or a hard surface floor. Incumbent works in both inside and outside areas. Cache warehousing is done in areas that are hot, cold, dry, wet, drafty, and poorly lighted. The work is dirty, dusty, and greasy. He/she is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and the safety hazards inherent of warehousing.

    Responsibilities

    Assists in the day-to-day operation at the Fire Cache to include ordering, receiving, maintaining, and shipping of firefighting equipment and supplies to the BLM and other agencies of the Interagency Fire Program for the area. The incumbent is responsible for:
    - Utilizing Interagency Cache Business System (ICBS-R) to manage stock levels, track shipments, and identify minimum restock levels.
    - Receiving shipments at the Fire Cache.
    - Verifying correct package counts and items received.
    - Inspecting shipments for damage, noting damage and initiating necessary paperwork for claims action.
    - Verifying purchases documentation and certifying correct receipt.
    - Packaging and labeling new, returned, and reconditioned equipment and supplies.
    - Checking and verifying package labels, codes, and shelving locations.
    - Placing stock.
    - Selecting and annotating supplies.
    - Packaging and labeling materials for shipping.
    - Building, breaking down and replenishing kits, verifying correct items and quantities.
    - Determining when stock levels are low and when new orders are required.
    - Testing, cleaning, repairing and servicing supplies and equipment.

    The person tentatively selected for this position is subject to completion of a favorable background investigation. Failure to satisfy the full investigation requirements may be grounds for termination, once you are placed in the position.

    A valid driver's license is required for some positions. If you are selected for one of these positions you must be 18 years old and have a current driver's license.

    MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Employees required to operate a motor vehicle must be at least 18; otherwise, you must be at least 16 at the time you report for work.

    Overnight travel may be required on a regular and recurring basis and employee will be required to obtain and use a government charge card, when travel is necessary.
