    This National Guard position is for an Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic, Position Description Number NGD0097000and is part of the 114 MAI SQ. This is a Title 32, Dual-Status position.

    SOUTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD

    The South Dakota National Guard has two distinct missions. The State mission is to provide units to assist and support civil authorities in the protection of life and property, preserve peace, order and public safety under the direction of the governor. The Federal mission is to provide combat ready, mission-capable forces throughout the entire spectrum of conflict under the direction of the president.

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

    Responsibilities

    As an Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic, WG-8268-10, you will:

    This technician position serves as a Pneudraulic Svstem Mechanic within a fuel systems shop responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of aircraft fuel cells, water injection, entidetonant (ADI), and inflight refueling systems. Utilizing extensive knowledge of fuel systems maintenance practices and procedures, incumbent troubleshoots the systems and determines extent and tvpe of preventive and/or repair maintenance required and performs all necessary repairs, installation, and operational checks.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS :

    COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:

    Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position (E-1 to E-6) in the following AFSC upon date of hire: AFSC 2A6XX. The AFSCs require an aptitude score of M47 and physical profile of J333132. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

    STATEMENT OF DIFFERENCES:
    Advancement to WG-08 intermediate and subsequently WG-10 journey worker levels, is not automatic with the completion of the training time required at this grade level, but rather it is contingent upon the assignment and performance of higher graded duties on a regular and recurring basis. The immediate supervisor and the higher level supervisors in the organization must assure the helper duties and subsequent intermediate level is essential and has been adequately mastered through actual performance of higher graded journey level duties. A locally developed Individual Development Plan (IDP) will be established for the incumbent. This plan will be designed to provide the individual selected with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and hone their skills relating to the ordnance equipment and components associated with the F16 ordnance to meet the full operating level of the Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic, WG-8268-10, PD # NGD0097000.

    Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

    Qualifications

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
    For WG-05, 6 months experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below.Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to learn basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to jack and perform hydraulic and pneumatic systems check. Experience in identifying basic malfunctions when source of trouble is easily located by appearance, sound, or response. Experience which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to service, maintain, disassemble, assemble and repair pneudraulic ground equipment. Experience using various hand tools. Experience which demonstrated the ability to follow written instructions.

    For WG-08, 12 months experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below. Experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling, assembling and repairing pneudraulic ground equipment. Experience using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.

    For WG-10, 18 months experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below.Experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.
