Sr. Accountant

Irvine Company’s Development Community (ICDC) oversees land development, infrastructure, planning and design, residential construction, land sales, marketing and agricultural operations within our master planned communities.  At the core of the Irvine Company’s residential development and community building efforts, ICDC is responsible for designing and delivering distinctive neighborhoods of the highest quality.  


Position Summary:

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for day-to-day aspects of job cost accounting related Apartment Reinvestment and Water Intrusion, includes but not limited to: coding review and approval, capital authorization confirmation, and budget load, etc
  • Responsible for month end close, which includes preparing monthly reports and journal entries
  • Work with Project Managers to review project forecast and budget
  • Support audits – both internal and external
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset additions entry and review information for accuracy
  • Quarterly review and preparation of fixed asset abandonments/retirements and identify appropriate book and tax treatment for each asset by property
  • Preparation of fixed asset tax forecast for Apartments Reinvestment Properties in collaboration with the Tax, Fixed Asset, and Planning departments
  • Assist with preparation of Capital Authorization requests
  • Responsible for expense report review and approval
  • Assist Accounting Manager with special projects and other duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility. Job cost accounting, real estate or development industry experience a plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Microsoft Office and Google experience with advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills utilizing v-lookups and pivot tables.  SAP experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and has the ability to work with all levels in the organization
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.  Willingness to multi-task, embrace change and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Detail oriented, highly self-motivated, positive team-player attitude,  and ability to work with minimal supervision
