Safety & Loss Control Coordinator

Reporting to the Supervisor, Safety & Loss Control, the Safety & Loss Control Coordinator is responsible for providing overall support to the Health and Safety Department.


  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Provide support to all areas in progressing our health and safety environment with the objective of furthering a proactive health and safety culture
  • Assist in the development and/or coordinate health and safety initiatives as directed
  • Promote health and safety leadership amongst employees and senior management
  • Support risk mitigation strategies for all major projects; whether working with Teck employees or contractors
  • Provide program support for Courageous Safety Leadership, Occupational Health and Hygiene and the High Potential Risk Control Strategy as required
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable safety regulations and legislation to be fully effective to support Teck employees and contractors
  • Provide program support  for Emergency Response, Contractor Management, Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Energy Isolation, Work at Heights and risk management tools such as the Field Level Risk Assessment and Job Safety Analysis Perform
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned


  • A minimum of five years of experience in mining, or operational experience in construction or other heavy industry
  • High Hazard Operational experience with responsibility for Health and Safety
  • A CRSP/CSP designation or willingness to attain
  • Strong computer skills; specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, planning and communication skills, and proven ability to speak in front of groups and work in a team environment
