Currently Sodexo is seeking an innovative, creative culinary expert to serve as Executive Chef at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA -  a longstanding, High Profile, Premier university partnership in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!  Sodexo at SPU focuses on the Student Life experience,  serves over 1200 students on meal plans in the main resident dining, plus multiple food retail venues and offers extensive catering to the campus. 


We are seeking candidates with prior experience managing high volume culinary operations as well as innovative catering and has proven results in the following areas:


Culinary Creativity: Follows culinary trends and innovates using local sustainable food sources, able to translate ideas into unique menu and recipe programs that advance the culinary experience for our students, faculty and catering clients. 


Leadership: Ability to effectively manage and communicate with Staff and Management Teams along with a passion and dedication to be “one of the best”. Must be highly engaged and extremely hands-on in day to day operations.


Training: Must be able to articulate and demonstrate a wide-ranging variety of cooking techniques and skills for the entire kitchen staff (plate presentation, quality, safety, proper culinary techniques).


Financial: Ability to manage and demonstrate proven results with food costs, labor and controllable expenses. Ability to utilize online systems for ordering, inventory, pricing, and labor.


The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous high volume and high-profile Executive Chef experience – from large campus, corporate, hospital, banquet background.
  • Be experienced and knowledge of online food management systems for ordering, inventory, recipe development.
  • Be a Team player and have demonstrated ability to drive the culinary business through spectacular food production, creativity and innovation.   Motivating, training and developing the hourly kitchen staff.
  • Be Food Focused and Food Forward visionary to continue to enhance the dining experience for the students.  Is aware of ever changing market trends in food.
  • Experience teaching culinary skills, techniques, menu/recipe options, sustainable values.  This is a VERY HANDS-ON role!
  • Have strong Customer service/ satisfaction and the ability to engage the customer and the client.
  • Have Well developed upscale catering background in high profile and high-volume environments.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.  Key Duties- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.  - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.- Manages catering & retail areas.- Customer & Client satisfaction.- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.-  Manages food & physical safety programs.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree  Basic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.Sodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
