Internal Job Fair: DFX - Kids Mountain Bike Coach - DFX Mini Shredders, FullTime (Summer)

Job Summary:

You will be responsible for providing a fun, safe and memorable learning experience for children aged 3 and 4 years old, teaching run bikers to those transitioning to pedal bikes to beginner and novice riders who are riding on green and blue trails. You will be teaching rider’s new skills and guiding them around the Whistler trails and/or Bike Park. You will also be entertaining and supervising children during none biking activities, such a story time, crafts and groups games.


What you’ll be doing:

  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest’s expectations and to create memories for guests and staff as the best mountain experience again and again.
  • To supervise a group of children for the day on the trails in a variety of activities including instruction, safety, non-biking activities, lunch, drop off and sign out.
  • To provide written and verbal communication on each child's day to their parents at the completion of each lesson.
  • To teach children of all abilities, including those on run bikes and just learning how to pedal.
  • To be fully aware of all policies and procedures –including safety, accident protocol, personal appearance, and to promote respect for our mountain environment.
  • To follow the guidelines and safety rules as outlined in the Whistler/Blackcomb Mountain Bike Programs Manual and all DFX safety procedures.
  • To be responsible for the physical, mental and emotional needs of all children in your care
  • To act as a prudent parent in the absence of the child's parent.
  • To attend all mandatory training sessions.
  • To be responsible for maintaining your own personal toolkits, first aid packs and your bike.
  • To be enthusiastic and punctual for all lesson assignments. Work day 9.00 - 3.30
  • Be available to work 5 days a week for full time and 2 days a week for part time from June 25 to Aug 31, 2018. As this a full season commitment vacation time is not available. Some work will be available in April- June and Sept – Nov dependent on participant enrolment.
  • We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist other departments as needed



  • Minimum 2 years of experience coaching/working with children aged 3 and 4
  • Demonstrate our core values: Have Fun, Be Safe, Serve Others, Do Right, Drive Value, Do Good
  • Fun loving, energetic and patient.
  • Experience leading story time, craft activities and group games for young children.
  • Previous mountain bike experience an asset
  • Level 1 PMBI certification or equivalent is an asset but not required at this level.
  • Minimum Current OFA Level 1 (B.C. Certified) wildness first aid or higher is an asset. Can be obtained after hiring.
  • Good physical condition
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Required to complete a satisfactory criminal record check
