Position open until filled.   This is a regular, full-time, academic year position in the Student Health & Counseling Center and is represented by the Oregon Public Employees Union/Service Employees International Union. The Student Health and Counseling Center provides primary health care to college students in an outpatient setting on campus. The services include laboratory testing, dispensing of medications, and examinations by mid-level practitioners, physicians, and other health care professionals. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience providing health care support in a health care facilityCompletion of a vocational training program in a health care support area (e.g. Medical Office Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant) and current State of Oregon certificationCurrent CPR certificationsProficient in venipuncture and skilled in handling laboratory supplies and equipmentProficient in electronic medical records and follow strict privacy policies. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of medical terminology **A criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment We are not considering candidates who require Visa sponsorship support.  Additionally, the University typically only considers visa support for employees placed in specialized positions that are continuing regular University appointments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist physician or mid-level practitioner as necessary and give medications, immunizations, and treatments, as directedAssist in maintaining drugs and medical supplies inventoryAnswer phones and returns calls/secure patient messagesObtain patient history and vital signs; prepare patient for and assist with examinations, treatments, and proceduresParticipate in OSHA programInput immunization data and run immunizations compliance reportsPerform basic clerical functionsAssist Medical Director with developing and maintain policy and procedure manualsPerform diagnostic testing: lab procedures, including but not limited to, in-house labs and venipunctureClean, sterilize, and maintain clinical equipment; keep clinical areas clean and stocked with suppliesUse multi-line phone, electronic medical records (Medicat), computer and general medical office equipmentCoordinate patient care information with other healthcare providersPrepare and maintain accurate medical records using electronic medical records (Medicate); Scan paper charts and other paper documents into the electronic medical record WORKING CONDITIONS:Outpatient clinic with flexible hours. Knowledge of universal precautions for handling blood and bodily fluids.
