We are actively looking for a Lead Developer to join our team, which is a workflow driven data management platform designed in house, solely focusing on the needs of scientists.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Ruby developer to architect a solution from premise to cloud, with the aim of scaling up our code to Ruby 2.7 (currently Ruby 2.6), improving the usability and UI, and getting the product ready for large scale up via the cloud.
What to expect?
o Collaborate with Product Management and Sales to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
o Use tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product
o Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
o Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
o Lead the move from an on-premise Rails solution to SAAS solution.
o Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development teams and collaborate with the Software Development Manager to help meet company objectives for timelines and functional delivery
o Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
o Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
o Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, supportability, and customer requirements.
o Adherence to our Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all work is handled securely, professionally and diligently.
Skills you'll need:
o 10+ Years' experience in software development with some experience of enterprise B2B software
o Proven experience of acting as a mentor and thought leader
o Experience developing with Ruby, Javascript, CSS, HTML, SQL.
o Strong relational database experience (PostgreSQL or Oracle distinct advantage)
o Collaborating with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
o Developing high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
o Providing architectural leadership to the development organization through strong mentoring
o Ability to deliver stable software from well documented requirements efficiently and as part of a team.
