Students participate in programs dedicated to enhancing practical and personal skills, at a pace that encourages school attendance, engagement and confidence.
Y-Care (South East Qld) Inc is now recruiting for a Head of School on a Permanent Full-time basis at our brand-new Vocational School Bundaberg Campus , commencing in January 2023!

ABOUT THE POSITION

As the Head of School , this position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of a YMCA Vocational School: Bundaberg Campus to achieve agreed student outcomes in line with the strategic direction, philosophy, and educational practice established for the YMCA Vocational School sector.

Duties as the Head of School include (but are not limited too):

Support and lead the delivery of school improvement processes with respect to the School's academic, wellbeing and vocational pillars and subsequent development of related policies, procedures and practices
Support the Principal in implementing the strategic direction of the school, with a particular focus upon the development and implementation of student wellbeing, academic and vocational practices to satisfy student outcome targets
Oversee the delivery of wellbeing and academic programs through each of their development phases: concept, design, commissioning and reporting
Monitor the Campus' funding and expenditure against budget targets, report as required, ensuring corrective action is taken when targets are not met
Provide timely reports for the Principal and the school to monitor and manage student attendance, academic and vocational performance, and student engagement
Manage the induction, appraisal and professional development plans for Teaching staff and support staff in accordance with policy
Ensure the creation and delivery of lessons by all staff is conducted in accordance with the School's guidelines and tailored to the needs of each student so that students are engaged and able to maximise their learning outcomes
Build and manage effective relationships and connection between other Y-Care / YMCA of Brisbane Programs and the wider YMCA
Manage and maintain the Campus work and operating environment so as to minimise risk to all persons including but not limited to, students, employees, volunteers, workers, customers, and parents
ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will be looking for a challenge, have a passion for working with young people, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person, a personal interest in health, spirituality and personal well-being. They will also have a commitment to a client-centred approach, creative and innovative youth work practice and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
To be successful in the role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:

Current Registered Teaching Qualifications, Post Graduate qualifications in Education and/or Educational Leadership;
Significant and successful leadership experience in a Secondary Educational setting of at least 3 years;
A demonstrated knowledge of the educational challenges facing disengaged young people and the innovative methods needed to help them achieve wellbeing, academic and vocational outcomes
Ability to communicate effectively with students including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills and the ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment
Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills and the ability to use those to influence the educational agenda for disengaged young people
Demonstrated experience in giving and receiving feedback in relation to both teaching performance and program delivery effectiveness
Demonstrated ability to manage effectively staff to deliver high quality organisational outcomes
