The Australian Digital Health Agency is responsible for national digital health services and systems, with a focus on engagement, innovation and clinical quality and safety. About the Role
As part of the Digital Strategy division, you will be part of a team responsible for national digital health design and strategy, underpinned by strong clinical governance and digital health standard. The APS6 Data Engineer will undertake work that is very complex and sensitive and operate under broad direction, applying sound decision making and judgement to produce high quality outcomes. In addition, the APS6 Data Engineer will also be tasked with:
Providing expert advice on complex data ingestion problem solving and issues management.
Ensure quality outputs including maintaining a high level of data quality within analytics platform.
Support reporting requirements by analysing, extracting, and publishing information on anomalies, insights, and trends.
Work with a focus on research, analysis, and judgement to manage complex issues.
Partner with Data Analysts and other teams to build foundational data sets that are trusted, well understood, and aligned with business strategy.
Providing highly granular level of detail to inform digital health business decisions
Skills and Experience
A thorough understanding of complex data storage capabilities, coupled with sound judgement and decision making is key to the success of the APS6 Data Engineer. Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
An in-depth knowledge of data analytics and proven examples of building and documenting ETL pipelines and data lineage to ingest data into analytics platforms
Cleansing, aggregating, and modelling data through to deep dive analytics.
Strong data science skills with the ability to communicate findings using plain language
Expertise in programming
Clear and concise communication to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to present the Agency’s position in the context of more complex data issues
Reporting to the EL1 Manager, you will provide advanced level subject matter advice and guidance within the focus areas. You will be a solution based, analytical thinker with a client focused dedication to ensuring high quality services and business outcomes. In addition to the general skills and experience expected of APS6 employees in the Agency, to be successful in the role, you will also have knowledge/understanding of the technologies experiences and methods as outlined in the Position Description.

Ability to obtain and maintain national police check.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required by the Agency
This is a Sydney, Canberra or Brisbane based role.
