ABOUT THE ROLE:
As part of High Performance Computing team you will be pushing the limits of our systems to make the most efficient use of computational resources:
Optimize an Internet-scale global system which processes12 million requests per second acrossdozens of data centers (multi cloud and physical) with a hard limit of100ms on response latency.
Take a holistic look at the whole system, experiment with novel approaches to scalability; design and implement better ways to handle an ever growing stream of inputs.
Revolutionize the way we store, distribute and query petabytes of real time decisioning data sustainingbillions of read/write operations per day.
Provide expert advice and interact with cloud vendors and other partners to troubleshoot occasional production issues.
Make heavy use of and contribute to open source software.

OurSoftware Engineers are end-to-end owners. You will participate actively in all aspects of designing, building, and delivering products for our clients. Software Engineers contribute to more than our product – they build up our team. Through strong project contribution, close partnership with team members, and collaboration with other teams, you will help us bring the TTD's operations to the next level.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Skills And Experience
Commercial development skills in OO programming (C#, Java or C++) and design.
Track record of building web-based, service-oriented applications and integrated back-office systems.
Solid understanding of how operating systems, runtimes, memory and I/O subsystems work.
Using tools and data analysis to optimize system performance.
Troubleshooting and resolution of complex production issues.
Applying state of the art approaches to testing and software quality to avoid those issues in the first place.
You have a "need for speed" mindset and are on the lookout for game changing ways to improve system efficiency.
You have a sustained track record of making significant, self-directed, and end-to-end contributions to large and impactful software projects. You think beyond just the task at hand to deeply understand the 'why' behind what you are doing.
You understand engineering fundamentals. At our scale, many off-the-shelf techniques and existing technologies (open source and enterprise) simply don't work. You are able to work from first principles to evaluate solutions and adapt them to a unique environment.
You are a broadly skilled Software Engineer accustomed to developing distributed, highly scalable services. You have experience building always-on systems, working across a variety of technologies and service layers.
You have a product-focused mindset. You have the passion and ability to contribute to the process of discovering what will delight our clients and push forward one of the world’s largest and most influential industries toward a vision of openness, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making.
You work with confidence and without ego. Our software engineers have deep knowledge and exercise a high degree of ownership in their daily work.
