Tools Developer

Tools Developer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Developers and the Upgrades and Support Teams to write tools in Python, C++, or C#
  • Assess development processes and find opportunities for improvement to our internal development tools
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies that enable our Upgrades and Support Teams to increase our efficiency and improve velocity
  • Document, communicate best practices, create reference architecture, and write automated tests for new and existing tools
Education: Required:
  • Bachelors - Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
Preferred Certifications:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified Developer
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD).
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
Experience: Required:
  • 6+ years of experience in the design, development and implementation of new software products or major enhancements to existing software
  • Experience refactoring legacy code and/or applications
  • Solid understanding of work-flow based work streams
  • Research, test, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of new products based on user requirements

Preferred:

  • AWS cloud development experience
  • AWS Developer Certification and/or AWS DevOps Certification
  • Experience incorporating Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Exposure to supported cloud-based programming languages

Knowledge & Skills, & Abilities:
  • Experienced with programming languages for web-based applications PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Unix scripting,
  • Strong database skills SQL, Data modeling, Normalize databases, MySQL
  • Issue tracking systems such as JIRA
  • Continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work proactively with a focus on execution
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, follow-up on assigned actions
  • Works successfully in a team environment
  • Web application performance analysis and tuning

Summary: As a Tools Developer, you will interact closely with fellow engineers and the development team at NextGen Healthcare and our Upgrades and Customer Support Teams to develop tools and technologies to increase our speed, efficiency, and capacity. This role will be responsible for helping to develop code, unit test, hold code reviews, check in code, and help to build the code pipeline for continuous integration/continuous delivery. In addition, this role will be interacting directly with customers who utilize these technologies every day to improve quality.
