Mechanical Design Engineer

ColdQuanta's production department is looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer interested in designing bleeding edge products and processes. You will be responsible for designing, testing and transitioning prototypes into full rate production manufacturing. This opportunity will allow you to acquire new skills with Ultra-High Vacuum systems, Opto-mechanical Systems, Electro-opto-mechanical systems and various glass, silicon and metal bonding techniques. The individual will accept that sometimes mistakes happen and it is better to own them and start again and is highly motivated to deliver quality work.

Responsibilities

Provides engineering analysis, design, and fabrication support for a variety of technical projects in a manufacturing environment

Analyzes and interprets complex customer specifications, including reference to various industry standards

Applies creativity and resourcefulness to develop non-traditional methods and practices to satisfy novel project demands

Develops 3D models, drawings and documentation packages for all designs

Participates in technical reviews and project status meetings as the technical design lead

Coordinates with manufacturing to incorporate DFM/DFA into design and supporting documentation

Requirements

Masters Degree (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 0-2 years of professional engineering experience

OR Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 2-6 years of professional engineering experience

Well rounded background in core mechanical engineering principles and concepts

Familiarity with ultra high vacuum systems, opto-mechanical systems and electro-opto-mechanical systems

Experience with ultra high precision glass

Proficiency using Solidworks (or similar) 3D CAD tools for design and applying GD&T

Demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire new skills with various glass, silicon and metal bonding techniques

Ability to stand for extended periods

Ability to see fine detail and focus on fine details

Must be able to lift 50lbs

Decent verbal and written communication skills as the job will require both listening to and reading instructions and also creating detailed procedures
