Electronics Manager

My client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of innovative instrumentation and machinery serving a wide range of industries. They are currently seeking to recruit an Electronics Manager to join their expanding in-house Engineering Team at their busy manufacturing site in north Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the electronics design process, ensuring that all electronic systems are fit for purpose in terms of functionality, quality, cost and reliability. This will include acting as the technical authority for electronics design covering both in-house activities and sub-systems from external supply partners.

You will provide leadership, coaching and mentoring of engineers within the Electronics Team. In addition, as Electronics Engineering Manager you will closely collaborate with other functions across the business to ensure the development and maintenance of robust design processes.

Additional key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Providing direct input to the sub-system roadmaps, leading to a portfolio of electronic systems that can be sustained and scaled at industrial quality levels as the business continues to grow.
  • Providing hands-on design when required.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant compliance standards, ensuring they are embodied in design processes and project plans.
  • Collaborating with project leaders to produce detailed technical requirements and specifications for electronic sub-systems.
  • Owning the quality of electronic designs, systems and components, enabling the business to achieve industrial levels of quality for PCBs.
  • Initiating and owning timely problem-solving actions to address production and field issues with electronic designs.
  • Ensuring that all electronics developments follow design guidance for manufacture, assembly, service and test.
  • Collaborating across the business to ensure that electronics designs work seamlessly with software, mechanical and other design elements.

In addition, candidates should have the following:

  • Strong level of experience working on similar complex products, ideally a background within the automotive, defence, aerospace, healthcare or scientific industries.
  • Design experience in digital electronics for industrial / commercial products where cost, quality and reliability are paramount.
  • Design experience in analogue power and high voltage (HV) electronics for industrial / commercial products where cost, quality and reliability are paramount.
