Payroll Assistant

The Payroll Assistant will perform a variety of support tasks associated with payroll operations, including auditing time entries and assisting with garnishment payments. This includes calculating and processing manual checks, processing new hire paperwork, and activating pay cards. They will utilize automated time and attendance software in ADP and assist with handling general inquiries regarding payroll.

Other duties include but aren't limited to:

• Assisting with bi-weekly timecard/payroll review
• Calculating and processing manual checks
• Reviewing payroll data for accuracy and facilitating corrections when needed
• Reviewing payroll adjustment requests to ensure proper authorization and compliance with policies, employment tax & other payroll-related laws
• Downloading and auditing payroll reports
• Completing payroll tasks including, but not limited to, garnishment wage orders, escalations, incentives, and shift differentials
• Providing external agencies timecard reports
• Entering invoices
• Understanding and adhering to established company policies
• Researching and responding to employee payroll-related questions and issues

Skills and Experience:

• Degree or Certification in Human Resources, Business, or other discipline directly related to the position. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
• 1+ years of experience in payroll
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Experience with Excel and major functions
• Able to operate independently and with discretion, work effectively under pressure, and maintain confidentiality
• Orientation towards teamwork and customer service
• Ability to successfully balance competing priorities and effectively manage workload
• Understanding of wage and hour compliance as it relates to payroll operations
• Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of internal and external colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders
