Jr Project Manager

This opportunity is located within our AFB International business, the global science and technology leader in pet food palatability. We develop and produce a full range of liquid and dry palatability enhancers using high-quality ingredients proven to optimize companion animal response and consumption.

Job Description

The Jr. R&D Project Manager is responsible for managing Product Development projects through the AFB Gate Process, from plan through project close, resulting in the launch of new products.

If you are interested, you should be skilled in project administration, possess strong cross-functional and interpersonal management skills, and have experience in a dynamic customer focused environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Project leadership: possess strong business insight to appropriately scope the technical development of each project including timelines, communications, issue/risk identification, execution, and reporting

  • Collaboration: Lead and collaborate with cross-functional team members across AFB including: R&D, marketing, sales, customer service, regulatory, quality, procurement and operations.

  • Project execution and control: deliver projects successfully according to Gate milestones established at project initiation; maintain comprehensive project documentation using appropriate systems and tools (visual management, project plan and Gate documentation)

  • Manages risk: perform risk management and report/escalate to management as needed

  • Value management: participate in strategic planning, team, and customer meetings in order to precisely execute projects

Education and/or Experience

  • Completion of a 4 year degree with emphasis in business or science disciplines

  • CAPM or PMP certification a plus

Work Environment

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Occasional exposure to manufacturing environment, including moving mechanical parts.
