Product Manager - NEMA Power Control


Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Product Manager - NEMA Power Control to join our team. This position is based at our Menomonee Falls, WI. 

Position Overview:

The product manager is a member of the Product Line Management team and leads execution of the strategic marketing plan for the NEMA Power Control line.  This includes executing a product strategy and roadmap that supports the overall strategy of the product line, CPD, and Eaton.  This individual will drive the strategy and create value propositions via a thorough understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities.  The Product Manager is also responsible for the pricing and marketing functions for their product(s).

The NEMA Power Control line is a core line within the division and a market share leader.  This role offers an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about solving customer problems and growing sales and profitability through, superior customer experience and active promotion of differentiated products. The Product Manager role also offers candidates a unique opportunity to work cross functionally with all facets of Eaton’s business including Marketing Communications, Sales, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

This role reports into Eaton's Industrial Control Division headquarters located just outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The headquarters is a recently constructed, modern facility including both office space and state of the art laboratories. The building hosts marketing, engineering, testing, finance, and sales and research - offering direct exposure and collaboration with all aspects of our business. In this function you will:

  • Develop and drive the execution of the strategic plan for assigned product(s)
  • Plan and implement sales and marketing strategies to achieve profit plan sales and financial objective.
  • Coordinate and develop support materials required to implement domestic and international product launches including catalogs, brochures, competitive comparisons, demos, videos promotions etc.
  • Define product development roadmaps and product features
  • Analyze key competitors to identify strengths, weakness and opportunities related to products, service level and strategies to support product strategy and roadmaps.
  • Drive the lifecycle planning process (product road mapping) to effectively introduce, transition and retire products
  • Develop specifications & business plans for new product development or brand-labeled product opportunities
  • Measure and report out on product line performance (Sales, Orders, Share, Margin, Price) and strategic initiatives for the assigned product lines monthly. 
  • Manage price realization objectives and targets
  • Create and provide technical sales presentations to customers and stakeholders internally and externally
  • Support the creation and execution of ICD’s strategic plan
  • Coordinate and develop support materials required to implement domestic and international product launches including catalogs, brochures, competitive comparisons, demos, videos promotions etc.
  • Engage with sales and customers to promote assigned products in the marketplace and stay on-top of customer needs and market trends
  • Act as a leader in new product development programs by driving all marketing requirements for the phase-gate PROlaunch process and provide support and expertise for other critical tasks led by engineering, supply chain, finance and manufacturing.
  • Assist and lead customer marketing activities and partner with division resources to develop and maintain product marketing collateral

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management, strategic marketing, technical marketing, sales, engineering, or operations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Engineering or Business from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of industrial control markets, customers, and applications.
  • Knowledge of motor control products including contactors, starters, overload relays, and motor control centers.
  • Prior experience in developing product roadmaps, positioning strategy, price management, value proposition development and launching new products.
  • Knowledge of financial basics: Forecasting, Standard Margin, fixed and variable costs, NPV, IRR, YTP.

Position Criteria:

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Experience working with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance and multiple sales channels.
  • Must be experienced in facilitating customer meetings and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% including occasional international travel.
