Escrow Officer

Purpose
Process, review, and audit the closing of real estate transactions and assist in business development.
Tasks
Process, Review, and Audit Closing

  • Coordinates closing dates with clients, their customers, and lenders.
  • Reviews closing instructions and documents from lender and prepares HUD settlement statements accordingly.
  • Obtains signatures for closing transactions with brief explanation of all documents executed by the Buyer/Borrower and Seller; facilitates the answer of all questions from clients.
  • Receives and reviews purchase agreements.
  • Informs Realtors, lenders and purchasers on the status of receiving title commitments/preliminary reports and loan approval/instructions from the lender.
  • Reviews title commitments/preliminary reports, relays curative requirements to parties involved and research as necessary and takes appropriate action.
  • Reviews and signs checks and initiates or approves wire transfers.
  • Reviews and acknowledges final disbursement summary and ledger upon completion of funding.
  • Reviews appropriate documents for timely submission to the county recorders office.
  • Reviews escrow accounting reports to resolve any outstanding checks and open file balances.
  • Forwards the file to Post Closing in proper audit review order.
  • Audit work done by the Escrow Assistant/Processor is in compliance with generally accepted practices. Where deficiencies are identified, notifies the branch manager of need for coaching and or performance counseling.
  • Periodically the Escrow Officer will be required to travel outside of the office to complete signing and closing transactions.

Sales Activities

  • Advises clients and customers on title policy options and the benefits as necessary.
  • Effectively market his/her own title and escrow services to outside realtors, builders, mortgage companies in a manner that builds or maintains a following of clients who direct new business to the branch and complies with the Company’s Marketing guidelines.
  • Assists in marketing new business and promoting better service to clients and their customers.

Other

  • Acts as an effective team member by helping develop other staff members, providing assistance to other staff members as needed and encouraging others to perform at peak levels.
  • Complies with the company’s Company Employee handbook and minimum quality and production standards established for position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

  • Must be proficient with RamQuest or similar systems software and MS Office.
  • Must have effective communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Must have knowledge of abstracting and minor examination.
  • Escrow License required for regulatory compliance with transaction functions.
  • Notary Public is required.
  • Experienced with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the escrow/title industry field
  • Sound proficiency and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)

Education & Experience

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
  • Must have 3 years experience in the title & escrow insurance industry with at least 2 years experience as an escrow assistant/processor.
  • Ideal candidate will have Florida experience.
