Job Summary:
NanoString's Accounting Department is looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to lead all areas of manufacturing costing and inventory analysis. The role is responsible for owning all aspects of cost accounting including standard setting, inventory reserve analysis and accruals, warranty analysis and accruals, allocations, journal entries and reconciliations, and variance monitoring including cross functional collaboration creating and sharing actionable and clear variance reporting with Operations groups to better understand and manage costs. This role has the opportunity to effect change by redefining variance reporting; reserve, warranty, and allocation methodology; and to partner with the business to make information easier to culminate and digest. This position will be key in designing and performing controls with adherence to SOX as well as preparing workpapers supported by clear complete and accurate tie out. This position requires regular communication to internal and external customers, researching issues, troubleshooting systems, and ad-hoc report development for special projects.

Essential Functions:
Lead and manage setting the overhead and labor rates and purchase prices as well as the standard cost roll.

Monitor, prepare actionable reporting, and communicate variance results with Operations, Purchasing, internal Accounting, and External auditors as required.

Analyze inventory and propose reserves for slow or aged inventory. Lead discussions with the business on appropriate reserves and prepare journal entries as needed.

Analyze company warranty expense and propose accruals sufficient to meet expected obligations.

Work with Service to manage spare part inventory.

Simplify and automate allocations to cost of goods sold.

Reconcile inventory, spare parts, warranty, and inventory reserve accounts.

Be the subject matter expert with implementation of a new ERP.

Troubleshoot system issues and find new ways to be more efficient in Microsoft NAVISION

Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent work experience.

3 years of management experience, preferably in a SOX environment

Microsoft Dynamics NAV software experience preferred.

5 years of cost accounting experience in a multi-entity environment with demonstrated growing responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout organization

Willingness to roll up the sleeves and go where the work is

Ability to establish and document best practices

Moderate to advanced Excel skills
