Altec’s Core Controls Hardware Design team is looking for a Staff Controls Developer to join the team located in St. Joseph, MO. As a Staff Controls Developer, you will design, develop, and deploy electronic hardware technologies and systems for embedded controls on Altec products. In addition, you will develop the leadership skills necessary to provide technical project oversight within the department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required
  • ABET EAC certified bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a master’s degree in Engineering is required
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in an applicable role after earning the bachelor’s degree required
    • Applicable Masters counts as one (1) year of experience
  • Strong PCB development experience highly preferred
  • Experience at various stages of developing, deploying, and supporting control modules for embedded systems highly preferred
  • Experience in Altium Designer highly preferred
  • Experience with CAN communication highly preferred
  • Experience with power distribution systems highly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision
  • Must effectively interact with other associates, departments, operations, distributors, vendors, customers, etc.
  • Must be confident, dynamic, and successful in working as part of a team
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying


Responsibilities

  • Develop, release, and support electronic modules for Altec’s control systems
  • Review schematic and PCB design within the group and provide technical insight and feedback
  • Work with fellow developers and/or technical experts to develop design solutions, best practices, and standards
  • Work with the team to develop and maintain component and circuit libraries
  • Provide strong mentorship and technical guidance to other developers
  • Support Operations, Sales, and Service in sustainment of Altec’s Customer First value
  • Follow established best practices and technical standards in all development work
  • Utilize Lean principles to improve our products and processes
  • May act as Lead Developer or in support of a Lead Developer
  • All other duties as assigned
