The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.


Deposit and Credit Bureau Management Office (DCBMO) is currently seeking to fill two Business Support Consultant 4 positions to join the newly created entity. These roles require knowledge and experience with consumer credit bureau reporting and associated laws (FCRA, FACTA) and processes. This newly created group is responsible for the governance/oversight, standardized enterprise policy, centralized relationship management, consistent enterprise processes and procedures, integrated network of systems, quality control and customer experience related to all aspects of how Wells Fargo furnishes and uses consumer data to/from the CRAs.  Under the control of this office are the following functions; Furnishings, Disputes, Consumption, Vendor Relationships, Strategy and Integration and finally, Self-Assurance and Oversight.

The Business Support Consultant 4 positions will provide strategic leadership to assist with building and implementing a phased support oversight model related to consumer report data consumption across the firm. Consult and provide guidance on the development, implementation, and monitoring of complex matters regarding strategic approaches, effectiveness of support function, business performance improvement opportunities, and also helping to manage the risks for large business functions or functions that may cross the enterprise that have significant complexity, scope and/or financial impact.

These positions will also have a thorough knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act requirements associated with consumer report data usage to provide guidance and oversight of strategic initiatives occurring within the business. Establish priorities and drive accountability for assigned initiatives, assisting business partners to ensure solutions are designed, integrated and controlled to improve effectiveness, limit risk exposure and create efficiencies as appropriate. Functions supported may include: policy/procedure administration and adherence, systems/change initiatives, information security, legal and regulatory adherence, SLA negotiation/development, reporting and analysis, process improvement, and quality management.

May present to executive management on business performance along with improvement recommendations. Will assess risk policies/programs, business process risk/ control assessment at a process level. May lead various risk execution matters through subject matter expertise. May work with key internal and/or external partners, possibly including agency representatives, regulators and auditors, to distill complex concepts into pragmatic and simplified/targeted solutions.

These positions are also responsible for:

  • Developing partnerships with key resources to identify and document data consumption practices across the firm. This includes documenting process owners, understanding consumer report spend, gathering existing controls that govern consumer report data consumption processes and assessing adherence with the Fair Credit Reporting Act expectations and to determine if current state is optimal or if process opportunities exists.
  • Developing and implementing a phased oversight framework designed to monitor business adherence with key FCRA consumption related requirements.
  • Assessing existing business processes and new business initiatives to mitigate potential compliance, legal, operational or reputational risk that may arise from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency related to consumer report data consumption. 
  • Consulting with business to develop corrective action plans related to identified gaps and assist with associated change management activities.
  • Managing communication and collaboration with business heads, Legal, Audit, and Risk related to modifications to business process, procedure and / or controls. 
  • Influencing the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide programs leveraging consumer report data governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Representing DCBMO in business implementation of complex and strategic consumer report consumption initiatives with high risk, complexity, and cross-functional impact.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ year of experience in one or a combination of the following: business support, project management, implementation, business operations or strategic planning in financial services demonstrated through work or military experience

  • 2+ years regulatory compliance experience
  • 2+ years audit and regulatory engagement experience

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
