Trader - Clean Products Cargo

Position Overview:

  • As a member of the Waterborne and Blending trading team, the trader for clean products will be part of the Supply, Trading & Logistics (STL) organization
  • The trader will develop and optimize a portfolio of market activity & relationships in support of Motiva's objectives and contribute to expanding a robust global flow of commodities in the Aramco system. This will include regular engagement with traders in the various Aramco offices as well as other market participants across the globe


  • Build a profitable clean products and component cargo flow in support of Motiva objectives.
  • Develop and optimize storage and / or blending positions as needed
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and awareness of market fundamentals in support of arbitrage trades available to Motiva and / or Aramco Affiliates
  • Engage, develop, and grow a collaborative relationship with Aramco Trading and regional counterparties to increase access to the Americas market and increase the overall profitability and efficiency of the Motiva & Aramco systems
  • Establish and maintain trading level relationships with third party suppliers, customers, service providers and trading partners to effectively carry out day-to-day Supply & Trading responsibilities
  • Help advance new commercial business development opportunities in the Americas.
  • Continuously improve the working relationship with internal stakeholders in refining, sales & other trading teams, seeking opportunities for collaborative projects that add value to Motiva.
  • Assist to integrate the Waterborne and Blending team's skills and capability into broader Motiva profitability and transformation objectives
  • Establish and maintain Motiva's ability to clearly explain supply & trading results and provide physical cargo market intelligence to other stakeholders in Motiva and Aramco
  • Continuously support Motiva's regulatory and contractual compliance obligations

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in global arbitrage, negotiation, and contractual management in relation to trading activities
  • Expert Level knowledge on pricing methods, qualities / specifications, and logistics options
  • Thorough understanding of book level exposure and risk management
  • Motivated, collaborative, and creative character traits
  • 5 years of experience trading clean refined products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business or Finance or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience with cargo trades and global market activity
  • Demonstrated experience with trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific arbitrage and value capture
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and growth of a physical trading portfolio
  • Experience with, or knowledge of refining processes and engaging refinery personnel
  • Spanish and or Portuguese language skills a plus but not required
