On-site Manager (Supply Chain - Sales Service Support)

Overview

The mission of the Graham Packaging Vendor Management Program is to provide full service of designated components necessary for ExxonMobil (EM) to fill and package their lubrication products at the Port Allen, LA (PAL) site. The On-site Logistics Manager has full oversight of the local program to accomplish that mission.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages the forecasting, ordering, delivery, inventorying and scheduling of all components for bottle, cartons, caps, pails, kegs, and lids on a daily basis so that production operations are not interrupted for supply issues. This includes maintaining appropriate levels of component inventories that account for Safety Stock minimums where deemed necessary. Maintains the accounting functions for lines that create the month-end consumption and scrap transactions.

Attends daily/weekly meetings and is the face of the Vendor Program to the customer – EM Port Allen Lubrication Plant.

Manages any component quality-related issues that are brought to light from production, quality sampling, or any other source.

Daily verifies receipt of transfers from off-site warehouse.

Reviews scrap transactions for all lines; identify and pursue opportunities to reduce scrap through discussion with supplier and operations personnel.

Performs multiple month-end closing tasks and reviews the month-end closing transactions generated by other team members. Completes the month-end closing process and ensures all financial transactions are timely, accurate and meet requirements.

Profile/Key Competencies:

Strong leadership and communication skills are required. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.

Must demonstrate strong working knowledge of Supply Chain (inventory, logistics and warehousing) processes and systems.

Applicant must be able to work with multiple teams and functions to be effective and deliver lasting results.

Candidate must be highly organized, analytical and driven.

Previous change management and continuous improvement skills are desired.

Advanced computer skills required (IE: Microsoft Office, SharePoint)

Up to 25% travel.

 



Qualifications

  • AA Degree or equivalent work experience is desired (Supply Chain/Operations or Business Management is preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years’ experience in any of the following: Supply Chain/Operation or equivalent area.
  • Must have prior working knowledge and experience with in the following Supply Chain related functions (Demand / Supply/ Inventory / Production / Material / Capacity Planning, Warehousing and/or Optimization).
  • Previous experience in SAP (PP, MM, APO, SNP, PPDS & WMS) or related ERP system is desired.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English.  Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, vendors, or customers of the organization.  Proven professional communication skills - listening, verbal and written.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills are required in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio among other software familiarity.  SAP experience is required. 
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and accounting. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to analyze large sums of data and determine causes for the results and plans to address.  
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with multi-tasked problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Strong analytical and organizational skills.  Proactive problem definition and creative problem solving skills.  Ability to define creative alternatives and recommendations.
