Project Manager - Marine/Waterfront

Location: RI - North Kingstown

The Project Manager - Marine/Waterfront will join our North Kingstown or Providence, Rhode Island office, and will be a part of Tighe & Bond's Coastal Group. The Project Manager - Marine/Waterfront will collaborate with civil and other engineering and environmental professionals to develop and execute creative marine/waterfront and coastal engineering projects on behalf of our clients throughout the Northeast (remote work is available throughout the summer with a hybrid in-office/remote approach starting after Labor Day).

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with marine/waterfront and coastal related projects
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License required
  • Broad understanding of marine and waterfront environments
  • Experience with geotechnical, steel, timber, concrete, and pile design
  • Exposure to coastal and waterfront permitting
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018 and MS Office
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, enjoys challenges, be resourceful, and have great organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work as a collaborative member of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ideal candidate should be a high energy, creative individual with a balanced mix of technical, project management, client management, and business development skills


  • Typical marine/waterfront projects include port, pier, dock, and industrial waterfront facility infrastructure improvements; seawalls; revetments; shoreline restoration; bulkheads; inspections; geotechnical investigations; retaining walls; fendering systems; pile-supported structures; boat ramps; and a variety of other geo-structural projects
  • Management of multi-disciplinary projects including responsibility for adherence to budgets and schedules, quality assurance, client communications and overall project success
  • Execution of design tasks and preparation of bidding/construction documents for marine/waterfront and coastal projects
  • Prepare PE-stamped Contractor submittals, geotechnical and structural projects, dam safety, and site/civil projects
  • Completion of wave and tide analyses and assessments  
  • Preparation and review of Opinions of Probable Construction Cost
  • Participation in and guidance on project decisions regarding technical approach, cost implications, and project scheduling impacts
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff
