Dimensional Analysis Engineer

As the dimensional analysis engineer, you execute virtual analysis of design and manufacturing processes to predict build variation. This activity includes problem solving and design recommendations to the Tolerance Analysis Lead and Design Responsible Engineer. This work requires deep understanding of design and manufacturing practices. You will gain exposure to the Global Powertrain/Vehicle Development Process requirements and math fidelity of each cycle.Major Duties/ Responsibilities:• Execute tolerance analysis (2d stacks, 3d Monte Carlo simulations) to GM requirements• Create and Maintain clear, precise, and well-organized layouts that validate the completion of all tolerance analysis, correlates to the bill of materials, and identifies unfavorable conditions between parts• Create presentations of layout results to support review & approval of component or sub-system design at product design and peer reviews• Ensure high quality, on time completion of assigned stacks• Comply with GM Design & Drafting Standards and Best Practices• Support development of standard work procedures for tolerance analysis• Evaluate new product technologies that may drive additional tolerance analysis requirements• Share lessons learned with Tolerance Analysis Lead, Manager and Designers and recommend updates to Best Practices• Apply manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs• Work closely with engineers and designers to achieve product design requirements• Integrate component and subsystem designs into systems• Support root cause of build/warranty issues and resolution, as required• Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility• Actively identify new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities

Job Requirements:
Required Skills & Qualifications:• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design / Engineering Technology• At least 3 to 5 years of product design and analysis experience• Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T ASME Y14.5m standard)• ASME certification is a plus• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Certification is a plus• Experience performing tolerance stack/dimensional variation analysis• Demonstrated experience with tolerance analysis software is a plus• Proficient knowledge of product design concepts and manufacturing processes (castings, stampings, plastic injection, die casting, tubing)• Proficient in CAD software and tools (NX, Teamcenter Engineering, Teamcenter Visualization, etc...)• Developing knowledge of PMI• Must be willing and able to create and present information to colleagues, leaders, management, internal customers, and suppliers in a clear and concise manner• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others including global partners• Proficient in Microsoft Office software• Analytical problem-solving skills
