Demand and Supply Analyst

The Global Demand and Supply Planner is responsible for the development and accuracy of planned capacity and raw material needs, as well as the data analysis and delivery of the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Process. This position works closely with the Global Production and Sourcing teams as well as Merchandising and Category leaders. As part of the S&OP team, the position will be a leader during the Supply sessions, communicating capacity plan changes and raw material feedback.

 Responsibilities 

Sales & Operations Planning

  • Analyzes sales data and trends to develop a forecast for Business Unit Demand Plan reviews
    • Evaluates forecast to actuals and develops the talking points with the Demand Team
    • Evaluates POS data and customer data to determine the impact to New Era's plans
  • Evaluates the Sales and Operations Planning forecast to the budget in terms of units and revenue as well as cost of goods, open to buy dollars and inventory metrics.
  • Develops and tracks New Era's inventory plan, including reporting out information for the Sales and Operations Planning process.
  • Develop and track the overall Distribution and Logistic plans, including reporting out information for the Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Accumulates purchasing data including purchase receipts, the open POs and purchase requisitions.  Works with finance on future spend forecasts
  • Creates, monitors, and maintains S&OP metrics and key performance indicators, identifying resulting risks and opportunities
  • Facilitates cross-functional communication between the Demand Teams and Supply Chain in support of major S&OP initiatives, new product launches, line extensions, promotions, discontinuations, productivity projects, decision-making modeling of process flow, inventory levels, cost of manufacturing, distribution, transportation, etc.

Global Capacity and Raw Material Planning

  • Works closely with Merchandising, Category leaders and the S&OP team in the development of demand forecasts 
  • Refines global demand forecasts into future capacity plans, working with global production and sourcing to allocate to vendors in accordance with our NE strategies
  • Identifies changes to global capacity and potential challenges, communicates these challenges in the Supply Sessions of the New Era S&OP process
  • Establishes and evaluates factory capacities by silhouette, region, category, seasonal demands and variance to plan  
  • Utilizing internal line level forecast and trend information, creates accurate fabric and component forecasts for stock, program and custom needs
  • Creates Global Custom (GCP) fabric forecasts for approved vendors to ensure quick turn deliveries
  • Review global fabric and component inventory and evaluate slow moving or obsolete materials
  • Works with regional merchandising, design, and category leaders to provide the details of the excess and develop a plan for use
  • Works closely with the Raw Material sourcing team to evaluate minimum order quantity issues and provide feedback on the most cost-effective actions to ensure on time delivery
  • Evaluate raw material planning processes to determine best in class procedures
  • Lead Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment with key accounts and regional merchandising leaders to improve overall forecast accuracy
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors

Through a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in forecasting or demand planning related job roles, you must demonstrate acquired skills and measurable success in each of the following areas:

  • Must be responsive to the needs of internal customers, employ diplomacy and tact, and work well in a team environment
  • Computer skills
  • Must be familiar with a major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Must have strong software skills (all MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Detail oriented; accomplishes tasks by considering all areas involved showing concern for all processes and tasks, no matter how small
  • Must possess good mathematical skills 
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various levels of staff and outside customers/suppliers
  • Strong knowledge of Capacity Management techniques and Basic predictive modeling in Excel.
  • Understand goals and objectives established by the company and work towards satisfying them
  • Enthusiastic, positive person who embraces and facilitates change with a sense of urgency and persistence
  • Challenges self to learn better ways of doing things (seeks out learning/development opportunities to improve skill set, attends courses and seminars to broaden knowledge) and demonstrates initiative.
  • Works hard and is able to establish collaborative working relationships and actively develops them to more effectively accomplish work objectives
     

Education and Experience
  • Experience in getting results via successful collaboration and communication with others
  • Experience working with data and providing accurate analysis and recommendations
  • Prefer 2 years of hands-on experience in forecasting or demand planning related job roles
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Supply Chain or related business field required, or commensurate experience
  • APICS Certification preferred
